Floridian lo-fi duo SALES played Mercury Lounge on a just-commenced tour of the Northeast and Midwest. The band make soothing, minimal tracks with a little bit of a bounce to them, especially visible in “Chinese New Year” off their debut EP. I was really endeared to them not only through their effectiveness as a duo (two guitars and a drum machine), but also through their humor and sincerity in their stage presence. I was also surprised to see a splendid cover of Mr Twin Sister’s “Daniel” in their repertoire. Sales is Lauren Morgan and Jordan Shih, and you can see them again tonight headlining over at Baby’s All Right.
