Indie pop outfit The Pains of Being Pure at Heart has evolved quite a bit over the last five years and since the last time they came to Connecticut to play. They’ll be bringing their updated sound back to the “203” for an intimate show at The Space on Tuesday, November 18. They’re even cool enough to play this show smack in the middle of tour dates opening for The New Pornographers. They’ve shed a great deal of the lo-fi fuzz that shrouded their instrumentals since the last time they were in town. They replaced that with sickly sweet synth vibes on their latest LP, Days of Abandon. It is less angsty and more jangly, as the newer material assaults you with a much more upbeat flavor that should translate very well to the all ages, close quarters that The Space has to offer.
A show opener has yet to be announced, but it is worth getting a jump on the ticket sales for this one. You can secure your spot starting today at 12:00pm when tickets officially go on sale.
